these are a result of a visit to the cliff walk today.

brick red

there's something about old red brick...
it has a history.
it has a story. well, lots of stories.
it's strong. but, wearing down.
there's character.

these were taken as I was running out the door from a friend's apartment building in nashville...

apartment envy? talk about an understatement!

i love this field- green

I drive by this field every morning on my way to work, and every morning (unless it's an overcast day), the sun is pouring through the branches of this tree. It makes beautiful light and shadows cast onto this open space- and, it's a great way to start my days. So, yesterday- I stopped my car in the road to take a couple of photos of the scene...
smart? probably not.
worth it? absolutely.

The photos are not the finest- still working with the point and shoot. (And, I was a little rushed- what with being in the middle of the road and all....) But, you can let your imagination take you there....

autumn gold

It's been one of those days...I've got the blues, for sure.

So, if I were to put up a post about my day- I would take photos full of blues and grays and dreariness.

The problem is- I keep looking out my window, and all I see are yellows and greens with golden specks scattered throughout the landscape.
And, then, I keep thinking about the crispness in the air this morning as I walked out of my house and saw that it was only 65 degrees!

So, in the midst of the blues, I cannot ignore the promise and hope of autumn.
It's coming!

These are the colors of my day....

here's to you, autumn-
golden yellows and greens.
crispness in the air.
hope.

sunshine on the sidewalk silver

A few weeks ago, I was at the National Zoo in Washington, DC (and, surprisingly enjoyed myself). I sat at a little round table next to a gelato stand for a while....just people watching and sketching a little bit.
It was late afternoon, and the way the sun lit up the sidewalk turned a dull brown color into a shiny silver- I love it when that happens. (...with color and life in general).
I feel like this was one of those days- what had the potential to be a dull (and kind of disgusting...I really thought I hated zoos) experience turned about to be relaxing, enjoyable, and refreshing.
Enjoy the silver sunshine...
